Fancy A Spot on the Board?

It has been an extraordinary twelve months for our organisation since the 2014 AGM.

The Board has focused on delivering events to inspire and support entrepreneurship in Tasmania – and deliver we have. We maintained the regular breakfast & evening drinks meetups in Hobart and Launceston, and started a new regular meetup in the North West. We invested more time working in collaboration with local groups including TasICT, Chambers of Commerce and the Tasmanian Government.

In late 2014, Startup Tasmania produced a report for the Tasmanian Government titled Entrepreneurial Pathways Scoping Report: Benchmarking the startup ecosystem in Tasmania which has assisted in shaping the thinking of Government towards small business initiatives. To this end, we are pleased that the Board has been working closely with the Tasmanian Government and the University of Tasmania on a concept to further support entrepreneurs and start-ups across Tasmania which should be announced in late 2015.

We held screenings of the documentary “Maker” and “Big Dream”, supported GovHack and organised our most successful Startup Spring ever with over 20 events held across the State in September.

It’s now time for us to wrap up the year in the usual way – by checking our financial statements line-by-line, preparing our annual return and electing a new board and executive.

Our 2015 AGM will be at 6pm, Wednesday 16th December at a new location – Ground Floor, old Mercury building, 91-93 Macquarie Street, Hobart (press the doorbell with “The Typewriter Factory” on it).

It’s open to all financial members – so if you’re not a member and would like to come along, please join:
