Dear members & friends of Startup Tasmania,
As another year draws to a close, it's time for the 2016 Startup Tasmania AGM!
It's been a busy year for Startup Tasmania and for the startup ecosystem in the state more generally. We've hosted visits from muru-D and Pollenizer, we've established the new Enterprize hubs in Hobart and Launceston, and we've seen a big lift in the national profile of the Tasmanian startup scene (with press coverage in The Australian, coverage on the Pollenizer website and a bunch of posts on national startup blogs). Also, keep an eye out for the Startup Australia Crossroads Report which will be released in early December and includes a case study on the Tasmanian startup ecosystem.
The work never ends, but it's always good to have a moment to reflect on what's been achieved in the past year and make plans for the year ahead. It’s now time for us to wrap up the year in the usual way - by checking our financial statements line-by-line, preparing our annual return and electing a new board and executive.
Our 2016 AGM will be at 6pm, Tuesday 20th December at Enterprize Hobart (ground floor of the Old Mercury Building in Hobart, on the left). It’s open to all financial members - so if you’re not a member and would like to come along, please join at: https://startuptasmania.com/join
We are also seeking nominations from anyone interested in forming the 2017 Startup Tasmania board & executive. All positions are open for nomination:
- President
- Vice-President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Public Officer
- General committee member (up to six positions)
A member may nominate for multiple positions, but cannot hold an executive and general board position concurrently, or the positions of President and Public Officer concurrently.
You must be a financial member at the time of nomination (please join: https://startuptasmania.com/join) and your nomination is in the form of an email to before 6pm, Friday December 9th 2016 outlining your intention accompanied with the names of two other financial members who second your nomination.
I look forward to receiving many nominations, and seeing all of you at the AGM!
Kind regards,
James Riggall
President, Startup Tasmania
