What is your business/what do you do?
Pixie Babes – A Tasmanian children’s label that offers a beautiful and artistic collection of quality clothing and accessories for all the precious little people in our lives using 100%GOTS approved organic cotton. Our vision was to create a range of clothing which was beautifully soft and as natural as possible while maintaining a stylish and practical edge.
Where did you get your idea?
I’ve always been able to sew and when I had my daughter 2 1/2 years ago I wanted to feed my passion of dressing her in gorgeous unique clothing so decided to take it upon myself.
Tell us of your biggest challenge in starting up?
The biggest challenge was trying to source a 100%GOTS Organic cotton that I wouldn’t need to sell an arm or a leg for!
Where do you want to be in 10 years?
I’d love to be able to one day have my product manufactured ethically for me and have sellout collections every season!
What advice would you give to other businesses starting out?
Decide on your brand aesthetic and what defines you from your competitors and market around that.
Do you consider yourself an entrepreneur?
Yes, I guess so ?♀️
Would you look to begin another business/project in the future?
My mind is always ticking on what else I could do in addition to but in terms of ‘another business’, No.
Tell us about your biggest win/achievement?
So far, no massive wins or achievements but I was very excited to be accepted into a Makers Nest Pop-up store boutique the first time I applied.
Would you be willing to mentor another startup?
I think I need a mentor myself :p
What’s your pet peeve/most hated part of running a business?
It’s not a peeve or a hate but it’s a massive let down attending a market and not being as popular or successful as you would’ve hoped or expected.
