Every three months, Pitch Club comes to Hobart to hold an event where innovative, creative people are invited to pitch their ideas to an audience of their peers, interested folks and curious investors. Each pitcher has just 90 seconds to articulate their concept so the pace is break-neck, which also means it’s lots of fun! Pitchers are paired up and the audience gets to choose which idea has greater merit. The winner of each round then gets a second go at explaining their idea. At the end of the evening, an ultimate winner is decided and he or she will be invited to attend the national Pitch Club event in Melbourne at the end of the year.

Got a great idea or product? Have you made the earth move with your ingenuity? Do you need money to make it all happen? Pitch Club is the place to meet investors who may be looking for exactly what you have to offer, and they have the money to help you bring it to fruition and get it onto the market.

You wouldn’t believe the innovation that is revealed at Pitch Club! From tiny, seemingly insignificant lightbulb moments to fully-fledged, on-the-market inventions with global potential, Pitch Club is a gathering place for great minds and even eccentric ones. As an audience member, you get to hear some incredible things and marvel at the cleverness of those pitching. You also get to vote on your favourite pitches and have a great time doing it. There’s beer, wine and juice and some delicious canapes. Plus, it’s an excellent event at which to meet people.

By definition, investors have funds they would like to put into viable ideas. Pitch Club brings a colourful range of ideas together in one place, in an atmosphere of conviviality and encouragement.

Once again, Pitch Club Tasmania will be run 3 times a year in conjunction with Startup Tasmania. For those who don’t know, Pitch Club is a business-healthy event where entrepreneurs and inventors will be able to pitch their idea in a supportive forum in front of fellow entrepreneurs, potential investors, fans, customers, and mentors. The winners (2) — are voted by the audience on the quality and oomph of their pitch and will have the opportunity to go on to represent Tasmania in the national Pitch Club held annually in October.

Pitch Club offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to ‘pitch’ (aka present) their ideas to a crowd of like-minded individuals, service providers, Angel Investors and more with a view to gaining networks, knowledge and capital. The evenings also include an interview with an entrepreneur or an investor who shares their insights and journey with the guests.

On the couch being interviewed is local entrepreneur Byron Teu, founder and MD of Sentralize, co-founder of Startup Tasmania and fresh back from a pitching tour of the US.

Pitch Club Rules!

1. Have fun!
2. If you want to pitch get there early, grab a Pitch ticket from the chapter manager (eight pitchers max).
3. Practice your Pitch (90 secs, what is the opportunity, the solution/product, proof, and ask for what u want).
4. Finalists picked from first round.
5. Finalists go to round two where they get five minutes to flesh out their idea and for questions.
6. Winners become nominees for the Final Pitch Club at the end of the year in Oct/Nov (TO BE ANNONCED).
7. Network, don’t waste the opportunity to meet people. Keep in mind, there could be anyone in the crowd!! (knowledge, networks, $)
